Yes. This really has to be taken care of. We spent months trying to get a loan for our house and when we finally did we felt like we were doing the right thing buying even though the housing market was in a slump. We took the credit and now my brother, my sister, and two sister in laws have taken advantage of the credit and do not have to pay it back. This makes me really angry. I feel like I am paying for their credits.

We wish Orleans well in their reorganization, but as the CEO of Peachtree Residential, I need to offer one meaningful clarification. In 2004, we sold our Charlotte, NC division home building assets to Orleans, but nothing more. Peachtree Residential Properties is not owned by Orleans. We are alive and well, celebrating our 22nd year of building homes in Metro Atlanta. I appreciate the opportunity to clarify this.

We were contacted by GMAC a year ago because we qualified for the first round of Fannie Mae refinancing. Turns out because we were current, didn't have $16000! in the bank and my husband made too much money ($64000 for our family of 5), we didn't qualify. We received another letter this week about this HASP loan that we qualify for. Now they are telling us we don't qualify because our loan isn't Fannie Mae. They MUST have sold it off in the past year as we KNOW our original loan was a Fannie Mae loan. We decided before all this fiasco happened that we would NEVER work with them again because of the hassle we had to go through with our appraisal. Besides lots of minor things, they wouldn't do our appraisal until we removed some tires that were on our property left from the previous owner and they didn't give us any credit for our inground pool because it was green (we turn off the pump to save energy after the 80's disappear and our appraisal was the end of Oct)

I would love to join a class action lawsuit although I had another idea. Lets bombard our congress people & the president to allow us to take the 8,000 nonrepayable credit to cancel out our 7500 repayment. We do not have to start paying this back until we file our 2010 taxes so we have a whole year to see if we can get something accomplished.
